Promoting the CSRD and the Sapin 2 law internationally

Promoting the CSRD and the Sapin 2 law internationally - A new challenge for the CHIMIREC Group

CHIMIREC Avrasya, in Turkey, recently hosted a meeting of the directors of the international subsidiaries based in PolandCanada and Morocco, attended by the Group's CEO, François de Tarragon, and its Chairman, Jean Fixot.

CSR strategy and regulatory obligations

The CHIMIREC Group is currently developing its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy. This policy is in line with its Quality, Safety and Environment (QSE) policy, which has been in place for over twenty years and is now reinforced by more stringent regulatory frameworks. As a stakeholder committed to protecting the environment, CHIMIREC adheres to the European Commission's definition of CSR as ‘the voluntary integration by companies of social and environmental concerns into their business operations and their interactions with stakeholders’.

This initiative led by the CHIMIREC Group encompasses both its international subsidiaries and its French subsidiaries. That is why the integration of regulatory obligations defined by the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and by the Sapin 2 law was the main item on the agenda of this meeting of CHIMIREC's international subsidiary directors.

Trained in these new regulatory frameworks by CHIMIREC Group's internal managers, the international directors will also be supported in this process by an external consulting firm hired by the Group.

CSRD and Sapin 2 law

Since 2022, the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) has been encouraging companies to maximise transparency by requiring them to include sustainability information in their management reports. This covers environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

As for the Sapin 2 law, it also requires complete transparency to combat corruption.

Sustainability, transparency and integrity are among the core values upheld by the CHIMIREC Group since its inception.  Transcribing them for regulatory purposes now requires the production of many indicators, the current complexity of which may be reduced later by the European institutions.

In any case, the CHIMIREC Group is firmly committed to meeting these requirements, even if the local contexts of some of its international subsidiaries may seem, for the time being, relatively far removed from European standards, particularly the CSRD Directive.

Change is underway, and there is no doubt that it will happen soon.
