CHIMIREC Turkey: A new RDF production tool
While continuing its efforts to set up a second site in Turkey, the CHIMIREC Group has decided to equip its subsidiary CHIMIREC Avrasya with an additional shredder to increase its Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)production capacity.
Alternative fuels: a fast-growing need
Originally, the production of Refuse Derived Fuel was seen primarily as a way of recovering hazardous waste. Back in 2013, the CHIMIREC Group, a specialist in hazardous waste management, set up its first RDF production line in France, at the site of its subsidiary CHIMIREC Javené.
Over the last few years, the challenges of the ecological transition have brought to light another considerable asset, that of replacing fossil fuels with Refuse Derived Fuel. RDF has become an energy resource in its own right and is therefore of major interest to the industry. This new energy resource enables them to decarbonise their activities.
Building on its expertise in RDF manufacturing processes, the CHIMIREC Group has exported its know-how to its international subsidiaries in Turkey and Morocco. RDF will soon also be manufactured by CHIMIREC Poland.
CHIMIREC Avrasya: RDF production on the rise!
CHIMIREC Avrasya is the Turkish market leader in the production of Refuse Derived Fuel.
However, in its current production configuration, the Gebze site is no longer able to meet the needs of its customers, some ten local cement works, let alone meet the expectations of new customers.
Pending a second site in Turkey, which will take about two years to become operational, the CHIMIREC Group has decided to install an additional shredder to considerably increase its production capacity.
CHIMIREC's on-site experts analysed the potential of the Gebze site and concluded that the project was feasible. The work required to install the new shredder has begun, and production is scheduled to start in early October 2024.
Until now, CHIMIREC Avrasya has produced 60,000 tonnes of RDF per year, and its production capacity will be increased to 90,000 tonnes per year: order books are already filling up!
