Safety: our priority, always, and more than ever!
Because waste management and the associated professions inevitably involve risks, the safety of people and facilities is at the top of the CHIMIREC Group's list of commitments, both in its international subsidiaries and in France.
Safety: meeting regulatory requirements
For over twenty years, the CHIMIREC Group has held Quality-Safety-Environment certification for all its sites in France, reflecting its commitment to complying with regulations and its desire for continuous improvement between annual audits.
Internationally, its Polish subsidiary, CHIMIREC Poland, has also signed up to this approach. In December 2022, it obtained its triple Quality Safety Environment certification. The CHIMIREC Morocco subsidiary intends to follow the same path.
Although the CHIMIREC Group is fully aware that safety regulations vary from one country to another, and that local contexts are clearly different in Poland, Canada, Turkey and Morocco, it nevertheless applies its safety standards in its foreign subsidiaries.
In Turkey, for example, all subcontractors and other visitors to the Gebze site are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), even if local legislation does not stipulate this.
Safety for all: a priority for everyone
Every year, the CHIMIREC Group deploys a safety policy backed up by actions taken in the field by its subsidiaries to inform, train and raise awareness of accident prevention daily. Vigilance must be exercised for oneself, but also for other employees. Safety campaigns are organised around themes such as ‘Good practice’, ‘First aid’ and ‘The golden rules of safety’, and give rise to safety days.
The mobilisation of management staff
Last September, at a meeting of all the CHIMIREC Group's directors, a new direction was taken to strengthen the impact of the safety policy on the French and international subsidiaries.
As safety concerns each and every one of us, all employees who supervise staff will henceforth be directly involved and will act as safety intermediaries. One of the proposals currently being studied is to institute a ritual whereby, twice a week, the working day will begin with a presentation of the ‘risks of the day’. Everyone, from the team leader to the deputy manager, will take it in turns to remind everyone of the best practices to follow to avoid any potentially dangerous incidents.
The CHIMIREC Group's objective is to make safety a genuine corporate culture, both in France and internationally, and one that is anchored in everyday reflexes. To infuse safety with the same level of automaticity as when everyone in France buckles up when they get into their car, without even thinking about it!
