The CHIMIREC Group: 65 years of sustainable commitment
Originally, in 1958, the French company CHIMIREC was a pioneer in the selective collection of hazardous waste in the workplace. Over the years, the Group has evolved based on values of societal and environmental responsibilities. CHIMIREC professionalism has long been recognized by major industrial groups, both in France and abroad.
From used black oils to all hazardous industrial waste (HIW)
CHIMIREC is a family business founded in 1958 by Pierre Fixot and began its activities by collecting used black oils from car garages.
From July 1975, the company became more controlled with the adoption of the first French legislation on waste disposal. While integrating new regulations into its work processes, CHIMIREC continues to develop its know-how in waste management. In 1978, Jean Fixot joined his father's company, then took over the management of CHIMIREC in 1987.
1992 sees the establishment of the selective collection of all hazardous industrial waste (HIW). It is also the beginning of a territorial meshing strategy with a view to geographical proximity to CHIMIREC customers.
In France and abroad, the development of CHIMIREC
The company is expanding its presence in France, with 43 approved sites so far and more than 1,500 employees. The CHIMIREC Group has been providing its customers with global management of their hazardous and non-hazardous waste since 2014: collection, consolidation, treatment and recovery.
In 2004, CHIMIREC launched its international development with the creation of a first subsidiary in Poland. In the following years, CHIMIREC established itself in Canada, Turkey and Morocco. In a logic of partnership with the host countries, the company brings its skills for responsible waste management, with the aim of safeguarding the environment.
The creation of recovery channels
Since its inception, CHIMIREC has enshrined its mission in a sustainable development approach. Very quickly, the company sought solutions to successfully exploit waste, especially those produced by the automotive sector. As early as 1985, a pioneering process for the regeneration of clear oils was established. Many other areas of development followed:
• the regeneration of solvents
• The recovery of oil filters
• Regeneration of used cooling fluids (UCF)
• the transformation of some waste into alternative energy fuel (AEF)
• the recovery of plastic by reuse or recycling
• the treatment of PCB tainted waste
• the physical-chemical treatment of water/hydrocarbon mixtures
• the treatment of industrial effluents such as liquid waste and sludge
Recovery in numbers:
80%: overall recovery rate
The requirement for triple certification: Quality - Safety - Environment
In the service of performance: certification for Quality - Safety - Environment
Since 2001, CHIMIREC has been engaged in the quality-safety-environment certification process. In 2012, the Group obtained this unique triple certification for all its subsidiaries. Audit after audit, the requirements of this dynamic and sustainable management system are an engine of continuous progress for the Group.
